Jordana Kleiner is a Pittsburgh-based flute and piccolo teacher currently offering in-person lessons in the South Hills of Pittsburgh to local students, as well as offering virtual lessons via Zoom for those residing outside the Pittsburgh area. She has experience teaching beginner to advanced students at various age levels.
This past year, she served as a Graduate Instructor at Boston University, where she taught beginner flute to BU students. These students had varied backgrounds in music-- some were music majors wanting to learn a new instrument, and some did not even know how to read music.
Jordana has extensive background in audition preparation, whether it is for orchestras, college programs, or summer programs. She is comfortable with helping students through the college search process and the subsequent application and audition process. Additionally, she is very familiar with the PMEA audition process and repertoire. She has years of experience in recording auditions, which is required for school prescreenings, summer festival applications, and competition preliminary rounds.
As a flute teacher, I not only believe in building a solid technical foundation, I aim to balance that with developing musical expression and individual creativity. I tailor lessons to each student's goals and learning style, fostering confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love of music. Whether you are preparing for auditions or playing for personal enjoyment, I strive to create a supportive and engaging environment that encourages growth and passion.
"The imagination, the highly developed sense of tonal discrimination, the ability to make inflections, nuances that reflect our feelings-- so one can truly say that the flute is a mirror of all our emotions, is a mirror of the love and devotion that we have given to it over these years."
- James Pappoutsakis
